Since 2006, the Amherst H. Wilder Foundation of Saint Paul has been preparing children for school through their annual backpack and school supply drive. “The goal is to remove the burden of cost to families who are often sending multiple kids back to school,” says drive organizer Laura Brown. In 2006, the Wilder Foundation was helping around 450 families; since then, they have more than doubled the number of Wilder clients receiving backpacks and supplies.
